Contigency Plan

What could go wrong during production
How are you going to avoid this issue? What’s your back up plan?
Data loss through the malfunction of computer and/or memory stick
I am going to avoid this issue by backing up my work on the college system and my home system as well. I will also save multiple drafts of my article so in the event I do lose everything, I don’t have to start from scratch and I can easily re build. I will also try to have paper copies of my research such as my interview research so I can rely on that as well. I will also email my work so again if both my computer at college and home fails I still have a copy there.
My models fall sick or are unavailable
I will be organising a backup model just in case one of my models fall sick and I will be asking my models regularly before the shoots that they are still available and can do it. I will also leave time for rescheduling my photoshoots and not leaving it last minute so I still have time to do a photoshoot with the models I wanted.
I or my models cannot get in due to weather
I will try to make sure I organise my shoots in the college and not do any shoots outside where it may be difficult to get in for my models in a remote location. I will again leave time for rescheduling so I can do my photoshoot again when the weather is better. I will also have back up models and lighting assistants etc. so I will still be able to do my shoot.
My research becomes unavailable
I will be backing up my research through my logs where I will repeat the essential information so in the case the websites do become unavailable I have some essential figures stored. I will also gain as much information as possible so If I lose any information I still have enough to write my article. I will also gain my information from as many sources as possible so if the internet breaks down, I still have research from books, interviews etc.  available.
The equipment becomes faulty.
I will have technician with me in the photoshoot in case the equipment malfunctions so the equipment can be fixed and my photoshoot can still resume. I also will check beforehand with the technician that the equipment is fine and that the photoshoot can start and I don’t have to reschedule. I will also leave time in my schedule to re do the shoot in case the equipment becomes a major issue. I will also try if possible to have back up equipment and batteries etc. so I case equipment malfunctions it can be replaced and again the photoshoot can resume.
My interview subject becomes unavailable
I will try to make sure I accommodate my subject as much as possible in scheduling an interview so they will definitely be available. I will also try and keep up to date with them before the interview by checking that the date is ok and I don’t have to reschedule. I will also try to leave enough time in my schedule in case I have to reorganise the interview and doesn’t affect the schedule too much.
Necessary props and costume become unavailable
I will make sure I have a backup costume because I want to make sure my looks are all up to date with my audience so I will have a backup which will still tie up with the theme of my shoots. If necessary, I will also advise my models on the day of the shoot to wear up to date and fashionable outfits just in case a backup outfit becomes unavailable so the shoot can still carry on. Likewise for props, I will have back up props that are identical or similar to the props I am using so again the shoot can still carry on. I will also leave time if possible in my schedule to re shoot props by themselves if I forget them so I can edit them in later in Photshop if possible.
Photoshoots taking too long to set up that we run out of time to shoot
I will be planning my photoshoots beforehand to make sure that there are difficult props that need to be set up which will take up the majority of my time. I will also make sure that I stick to a simplistic lightning setup which can easily be set up and that I have experience of. I will also make sure that while I’m setting up equipment etc. that my models will be getting dressed so I am multi-tasking and not waiting around for them to get changed.
Running out of post production time and not having the correct software at home
I will be doing a schedule so I know exactly what to be doing and at what time. I will also be factoring extra time in case I do overrun which may be likely and any time where I may be off due to unforeseen circumstances. I will try to keep to the schedule as faithfully as I can but If I do stray from the schedule, I will come in after lessons to do any work that I have missed on to make I keep on time.
Photographs coming back out of focus after a difficult photo shoot has just been executed

I will factor in extra time in my shoots so I can check on a nearby computer that all the photos are there and in focus so the equipment is still set up and my personnel are still there so I can still execute my shoot without wasting any more time. I will also factor in time to schedule another photoshoot if it goes wrong and I don’t have enough time to check a computer if the shoot severely overruns. I will also have expert personnel who will be able to help me and give me advice on how to make sure the photos aren’t out of focus.
