Death by Fashion Article Planning

Article Planning Sheet- Death By Style
Plan the language use of the primary code of your article in the box below.

Article target audience:

Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
The articles purpose will be to shock my readers as I am writing a shocking article and will want to include true life stories to do this.  However I also want to inform my audience because my article will be about the consequences of wearing dangerous items in later life so I want to inform my audience how not to suffer in later life. The article type will be primarily an expose as before I want to shock my readers and will be including anecdotes and statistics which is a convention of this genre. However there will also be mixes of the How to style article in my separate breakout boxes as I will be issuing advice to my readers on how to stop the consequences of dressing dangerously.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
The narrative voice will be in 3rd person as I will be writing to inform which this style is usually used to however I will be using 2nd person in my breakout boxes primarily because I want to relate to my audience so they listen to my advice and makes the article feel more personal.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
The register will be quite informal as I am appealing to a younger audience and have to make the issues relevant to them so by using an informal register they will be able to read and relate to the article. I may also use colloquial terms to tie in with this but not too select and too many that I alienate some of my older audience and my secondary audience who will read my magazine. I want to appeal to as many people as possible so will only use some well-known colloquial terms. I will not be using taboo words as it doesn’t really appeal to my audience and might offend the secondary audience which I have to take in mind.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
I will be using alliteration for my sub headings as it makes it read more entertaining and catchy and it makes memorable in my audience heads so they are more likely to read on and remember the information which is the point of my article. I will be using a semantic field of crime as I want to make fashion seem dangerous and make the article more entertaining as I am personifying fashion. I will also be using similes to personify fashion and also makes it relatable to my audience as I will use situations in my similes which are familiar to them.  My sentencing will be quite short as I want it to read quite fast and not drag them down with a lot of information which will make them switch off. I will also be including references to celebrities as my audience pay a lot of attention to celebrities and again this will make my article more relatable to show that celebrities suffer as well and will also entertain.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
The tone will be shocking and exaggerated as I want to shock my readers as I am tackling a shocking issue and want to show the extreme extent of what happens if you wear these dangerous items. The tone will also be entertaining and humourous as I want to make the reader laugh as well in some parts so they will continue to read on in the article and I will do this through anecdotes that I will collect through my interviews.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
The structure will be divided into four columns for each item that I will be writing about and will be using the inverted pyramid of interest structure where I will go through the most important information first just in case they don’t read on in the article.  My four columns will then be followed by a breakout box for each item which will give them tips on how to avoid suffering later in life. I will also have a kicker at the beginning of my article to tell my reader what the article is about  and give them an accessible way into the article.
